Captain Barrett Hayton drew Canada even midway through the third period before Akil Thomas scored an unbelievable solo goal that would be the game winner, as Canada captured its 18th gold medal at the World Juniors with a comeback win over Russia. The goal was Thomas’ first of the tournament and only his second point.
