Smudge gets left behind a lot in this series. His best friend leaves him, seemingly with little thought to the life he left behind, and then Firestar helps to lead all the forest cats away when the forest is destroyed. Does Smudge long for his childhood friend to return? slight AU: Smudge and Rusty go through the tunnel in their garden and find they are not alone in the forest on the Other Side.
