Inspired by runic legends and Danish folklore, Olsen began to explore his heritage via song in the early 2000s. He began releasing music under the Danheim moniker in 2017, beginning with the full-lengths Munarvagr and Mannavegr. In 2018, he launched his own independent label, Fimbul Records, with the intention of issuing future material from other artists in the Nordic folk genre.
