Michael Jackson NAACP Award 1993

On 16th January 1993, Michael receives the NAACP’s Image Award for Best Music Video (’Black Or White’) and the coveted award for Entertainer Of The Year. Following a video tribute to Michael, Patti Labelle, Daryl Coley and the Voices Of Faith Choir sing ’Will You Be There’ with Michael joining in the last verse. Michael, brought down the house just standing on stage. “I wasn’t prepared to sing,“ he stated. Michael’s acceptance speech was as follows: “First I’d like to say ’Thank you’ to my mother. Thank you for giving me life — I really mean that. There are two things which the NAACP stands for which are the most important things in my life: freedom and equality. In every person, there is a secret song in their heart. It says: ’I am free!’, it sings: ’I am One!’. This is the natural feeling of every child. To be free as the wind, to be one with every other child. All the troubles in the world are caused by forgetting this feeling. And when I perform, my connection with people is to just remind me of that: to be free and to be One. In this spirit the NAACP has done its cherished work. Thank you for having the faith to see that I share your work — for I deeply feel I do. I accept this award on behalf of the world’s healing. When all our brothers and sisters will be as free and equal as we are today. I love you so much and I am very honoured, and thank you for this award. Thank you so much.“ Il 16 gennaio 1993,Michael riceve il NAACP Image per il miglior video musicale “ Black Or White “ e l’ambito riconoscimento di intrattenitore dell’anno. Dopo un tributo video , Patti Labelle e il coro Voice Of Faith cantano Will You be There e Michael si unisce a loro nella parte finale. Quando Michael e’ salito sul palco la sala e’ venuta giu’ dalle ovazioni : “ Non ero preparato a cantare “ , ha affermato MJ. Il discorso di ringraziamento di Michael è stato questo: “In primo luogo vorrei dire ’Grazie ’ a mia madre.. Ti ringrazio per avermi dato la vita ... Voglio dire questo.. Ci sono due cose che la NAACP rappresenta e sono le cose più importanti della mia vita : la libertà e l’uguaglianza . In ogni persona , c’è una canzone segreta nel loro cuore . Dice :’ Sono libero ! ’ , Canta : ’Io sono Uno ! ’ . Questa è la sensazione naturale di ogni bambino.. Per essere liberi come il vento, di essere uno con ogni altro bambino . Tutti i problemi del mondo sono causati dalla dimenticanza di questa sensazione . E quando mi esibisco mi connetto con la gente che mi ricorda questo : essere libero e di essere qualcuno. In questo spirito, il NAACP ha fatto il suo prezioso lavoro . Grazie per la vostra fiducia nel vedere che condivido il vostro lavoro .. Sento profondamente di farlo. Accetto questo premio a nome della guarigione del mondo , che avverra’ quando tutti i nostri fratelli e sorelle saranno così liberi ed eguali come siamo oggi . Vi amo così tanto e grazie per questo premio,ne sono molto onorato.
