Caught on cam: 18-wheeler strikes New York bridge as it drives underneath it

18-wheelers having accidents while driving under bridges is a frequent occurrence in New York. So much so, New York Governor Kathy Hochul says New York State Police will be conducting a bridge hit enforcement campaign across the state. According to the governor’s office, from 2021 through 2022 there were more than 800 reported bridge strikes across the state. One of the bridges that is struck on a pretty regular basis -- is the Young Street bridge in Tonawanda. People who live in the area say this sometimes happens on a weekly basis. Tonawanda Police say drivers typically don’t realize the height of the truck they’re driving.
