’The name changes but the love remains’ - Russian fast-food brand to take over McDonald’s announced

The Russian fast-food brand that will take over most of McDonald’s business in the country has been announced: it’s called ’Vkusno i Tochka’, which roughly translates as ’yummy full stop’ or ’tasty and that’s it’. The owner, Alexandar Gorov, was previously one of the licensees of the international chain. He said he is planning to first reopen all of the 850 restaurants over Russia, and then expand the number to 1,000. But initially, about 15 restaurants will open around Moscow, starting from the flagship outlet in Moscow’s Pushkin Square, which is actually the very first restaurant opened by McDonald’s when it first started operation in Russia back in 1990. McDonald’s announced last month that it will pull out of Russian market due to concerns of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.
