A magnitude 5.8 quake struck on Sunday evening in Taiwan, the Taiwan Seismological Survey said. Tremors were recorded at 22:11 local time, from the epicenter was on the east coast, 19 km from the city of Hualien, and the focus lay at a depth of 15 km. Three minutes later, this was followed by another, more powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 with an epicenter in the same area. Ground fluctuations were felt in Yilan, Hualien, Nantou, Zhanghua, Taichung, Miaoli counties, as well as in other cities. No data on casualties and damage has been received yet.
