100 Trillion Times Faster!China’s Quantum Computer Surpasses World’s Fastest Supercomputer!

Recently, Chinese scientists have developed a new prototype of a quantum computer called “Jiuzhang 3.0.“ This quantum computer utilizes photons to achieve efficient on-chip learning, eliminating the need for frequent data exchange with external memory or the cloud. The computational speed of Jiuzhang 3.0 is calculated to be 10^16 times faster than the current fastest supercomputer in the world when performing Gaussian calculations. Quantum computers leverage principles of quantum mechanics to process information and can solve complex problems much faster than classical computers. They are considered a revolutionary breakthrough in computing technology. The success of Jiuzhang 3.0 has been published in the prestigious journal “Science,“ receiving recognition and praise from the global scientific community. The current fastest supercomputer in the world is “Fugaku“ developed by Fujitsu in Japan, capable of performing quadrillion floating-point operations per second. However, it pales in comparison to the computational power of the Jiuzhang 3.0 quantum computing prototype. Jiuzhang 3.0 is a photon-based quantum computer featuring a memristor array composed of 76 photons. Its efficient on-chip learning capabilities make it ideal for solving specific complex problems like Gaussian Boson Sampling (GBS). Gaussian boson sampling is a technique that utilizes photons for on-chip learning, reducing energy consumption and latency while enhancing computational power and efficiency. According to the published paper in “Science,“ the Jiuzhang 3.0 quantum computing prototype processes Gaussian boson sampling problems at a speed one trillion times faster than the current fastest supercomputer. This remarkable achievement demonstrates quantum supremacy, highlighting the quantum computer’s ability to outperform classical computers in certain tasks, surpassing their simulation or emulation capabilities. “China Focus“ is a YouTube channel created to provide current events and pop culture headlines from you can get to know a more real China through my video. | #ChineseNews #chips #ChinaFocus Thanks for your watching and subscribing.
