INGMAR BERGMAN Ballerina Marie (Maj-Britt Nilsson), spending the summer with her Uncle at his quiet island home near Stockholm, meets the kindhearted Henrik (Birger Malmsten) and falls into a carefree summer romance with him that ends suddenly and tragically. Years later, after rediscovering her old diary from that fateful summer, melancholy Marie returns to her uncle’s home in an attempt to quiet the demons that have haunted her ever since.a I started this video half-way through last year but never finished it. I’ve been watching Ingmar Bergman’s films for the last 12 months and “Summer Interlude“ has been one of my favourites so far. Such a beautiful, heartbreaking, poetic film. Also Birger Malmsten is a babe and more people should see his face.
