On june, 20, 1961, during a toast in Leicester Square, the Old Vic announced the invitation, by JC Williamson Theatres (the most famous of all australian managements of the time) to send the company to the Antipodes. Led by Vivien Leigh, who was given “carte blanche“, the famous 1961-1962 season, brought three major plays from the repertoire to various audiences, all through Australia and New Zealand.
