Greece: Storm Daniel traps Residents and Submerges Villages

Entire residential areas of Trikala were flooded after the Lithaios river which runs through the city burst its banks. Flooding triggered by severe rainstorms also hit neighbouring Bulgaria and Turkey, killing a total of 15 people in the three countries. The flooding followed on the heels of wildfires that burned vast tracts of forest and farmland, burned homes, and killed more than 20 people.
