Russia: Baltic Fleet corvettes embark on long-distance voyage

Mandatory courtesy: Russian Ministry of Defence The Baltic Fleet corvettes Stoykiy and Soobrazitelniy departed from the naval base of Baltiysk for long-distance deployment within the framework of naval exercises, as reported by the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry on Monday. It was not said on which day the vessels departed the Russian naval base. According to the ministry, the corvettes’ crews will perform various combat training missions, among which are communications, air and anti-submarine defence exercises. The shipborne Ka-27 helicopter will participate in the drills, training in the search for enemy submarines and surface targets. At anchorages in unprotected water areas and while crossing straits the crews will conduct exercises to repel a ‘terrorist’ attack on the ship. Antiterrorist groups of the Baltic Fleet Marines will ensure the security of corvettes. The press service reported that
