Yamaha WR250 fork strip, inspection & rebuild #1613

Dirt bike owners will be only too aware of the problems over fork seals, especially with upside-down type forks. There isn’t a day that goes by at the Yamaha store that I don’t see someone bringing in a pair of forks to have new seals fitted. It’s not a cheap job either, usually around NZ$250 for a strip down, clean, hydraulic seal replacement and some fresh oil, add another $100 for bushes and even more if its a full overhaul with inspection & new o-rings. Asking customer’s why they don’t do the work themselves it soon became clear that many are ’put off’ by the whole ’hydraulic’ thing and the requirement for ’special tools’...
