Israel has announced that it has entered a new phase in its war against Hamas. The announcement was made by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, who accused Hamas of breaking the humanitarian pause by refusing to release women, children, and babies, as agreed. Hamas also fired rockets at Israeli homes, according to the IDF. Hagari said that Hamas chose war when it broke the hostage release agreement on December 1 and massacred Israeli people on October 7. The IDF is committed to securing the release of their hostages and dismantling Hamas. The IDF will operate according to international law and with maximum force against Hamas terrorists and infrastructures while minimizing harm to civilians. The IDF is dropping leaflets with QR codes to guide Gazans to safer areas and calling on international organizations to assist with this effort and ensure that the Red Cross gains access to the hostages in Hamas captivity.
