Doug Ford, Olivia Chow discuss city of Toronto finances in 1st joint press conference | FULL

Despite their past political differences, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow held their first-ever joint press conference at Queen’s Park on Monday, where they expressed their focus on unity and announced a new-deal working group to help achieve long-term stability and sustainability for Toronto’s finances. On top of that, Ford announced a $42 million investment to help house asylum seekers across the province. Ford also continues to be embroiled in controversy surrounding the development of Greenbelt land. When asked if any property developers made an appearance at his daughter’s wedding over the weekend, Ford said “no.“ While addressing the concerns of safety, affordability and public transit, Chow rejected the idea that “Toronto is a city in decline,“ highlighting many of the cultural events that bring its citizens together on such a frequent basis.
