ESL CARD GAME: COMPARATIVES

This elementary cards game is for practicing degrees of comparison of adjectives. It is played with a pack of hand-made cards with different adjectives on them. It is similar to Grammar Poker Game for Irregular Verbs The game is really a must-play because it not only drills three forms of adjectives but also makes students use them in context in full sentences. Level of English – elementary Number of students – groups of 5-8 students Age of students – school children and adults Materials needed – set of cards Time – 5 min for revision, 15 minutes for playing the game in groups How to play the game. At the beginning of the game every player has 6 cards. Every adjectıve is written on any three cards. The aim is to make a chain of the three forms of adjectives in positive, comparative and superlative degree. The fırst player chooses a card and makes up a sentence using the adjective on the cards
