A time-travel seen through the eyes of a soldier of the German Wehrmacht on its advance in the Soviet Union from July to December 1941. This rare private film footage shows a Düsseldorf supply unit at a time when Hitler’s plan to quickly defeat the Soviet Union seemed to be succeeding. The film documents the everyday life of soldiers in the first phase of this murderous campaign, many scenes were shot during breaks in the fighting and give an impression that these young men obviously felt the war on the Eastern Front as a kind of adventure. The suffering of the civilian population is not shown, nor are the hundreds of thousands of mass shootings in the rear of the front.
