Bluebird Ultralight Airplane, Flying Slow

The Bluebird is a homebuilt ultralight airplane which I designed and built, and have been flying for more than a year. It’s a flying scooter, just for fun. I’m not very bold, usually just making local flights in fair weather, poking around for my own satisfaction. My Bluebird is a motorfloater, flying slow (light weight, big wing) for comfort, easy flying, and crash safety. You can see that the motor (a modern paramotor engine, 16 horsepower) is pull started, but the propeller does not turn until the clutch engages at higher engine speeds. (In the video this is not a frame rate anomaly, the propeller is actually not rotating at all until higher engine speed is reached! During the radio call (1:38) it looks like the prop almost stops, but that is a stroboscopic illusion.) With my feet on the ground, I lean back hard but at full power I can’t keep the plane from rolling forward. The throttle, run switch, engine gages, and hand deployed parachute are shown.
