United States Air Force Training Film 5363, “Nuclear Effects During SAC Delivery Missions,” 1960, Secret Document 1 of the National Security Archive Briefing Book 825 The U.S. Air Force produced this film to help prepare SAC bomber crews to carry out nuclear strikes and to evade the dangerous effects of those detonations. After a detailed presentation of what SAC had learned about the problem of nuclear effects and how to safeguard the bomber crews from them, the film includes a dramatization of what crew members could experience during a nuclear strike mission that looks like a scene from Stanley Kubrick’s famous film, Dr. Strangelove.
