The song is written by Pierre Kartner ( in the Netherlands and Flanders known as Vader Abraham ). Recorded and released by himself in 1975 in Dutch “In ’t kleine café aan de haven“. This song is covered in different languages. In French by Mireille Mathieu as “Le vieux café de la Rue d’Amérique“ and by Joe Dassin as “Le café des trois colombes“. English covers were recorded by Engelbert Humperdinck as “The little cafe by the Harbour“, in the USA by Audrey Landers as “My Favourite cafe on the Harbour“ and by Demis Roussos as “The Red Rose Cafe“. In Germany it was recorded by Peter Alexander as “Die Kleine Kneipe“. James Last and André Rieu played an instrumental version of it. The backing track for my instrumental version is made by me.
