Yamaha DX7 (1983) vs. Native Instruments FM8 (2006)

Digital vs. digital. Should sound pretty much the same, shouldn’t it? Well, the thing is that the original DX7 is filled up with multiple digital and analog components, all of these components color the sound. While the DX7 is inferior to the FM8 on paper, some people may think that the it sounds somewhat nicer - more organic, warmer, smoother, analog-like(!).
