GAME RECAP: Penguins at Canucks () | Crosby Assist Makes His 1,000th Even Strength Point

Starting off their road trip of four games, the Pittsburgh Penguins traveled to Vancouver to face the Canucks. Vancouver took the lead in the 1st period with two goals scored by Nils Hoglander and Brock Boeser. The Penguins responded in the 2nd Period. Sidney Crosby collected a loose puck in the high slot and dished it to space for Rickard Rakell. Rakell controlled the puck through traffic in front and banged it into the net. With his assist, Crosby became the fourth fastest player in NHL history to record 1,000 even strength points. Later in the period and on the power play, Evgeni Malkin gave a slap pass to Crosby on the far side of the ice. Crosby drew some defenders towards him and found Rakell on the backdoor for his second of the game. Vancouver responded less than a minute later with a goal from J.T. Miller to regain the lead, 3-2.
