Who was Boudica? The Vengeance and Legacy of a Celtic Warrior Queen
“In stature very tall, in appearance, most terrifying. In the glance of her eye most fierce and her voice most harsh.”
Thus the Romans described Boudica, Queen of the Icenai. Her name meant “Victorious“ and she would go down in history as a symbol of Celtic pride and rage.
Over the centuries, Boudica has become a national inspiration - sort of the British spirit incarnate. And of course she embodies the Celtic soul. Or more broadly, it’s safe to say Boudica is the patron of anyone who stands up against impossible odds to fight oppression.
