The Seasons, November, Troika The twelve pieces titled The Seasons were composed between December 1875 and May 1876 (roughly contemporary with the ballet Swan Lake), as the result of a commission from the editor of the monthly music journal Nuvellist for an original piano miniature to be included in every edition throughout 1876. They were later published by Jurcienson as a set in 1885. .
