On June 6, 1944 Locker was one of the 156,000 soldiers to storm the beaches of Normandy, landing at Utah Beach and provided anti-aircraft cover for the invasion. Six months later, Locker was a 19-year-old Staff Sergeant moving through the hedgerows of France. During the brutal winter of 1944, Locker participated in the Battle of the Bulge by provided air and artillery cover for Allied troops desperately trying to fend off the last major German offensive of WWII.
