Russian pensioner fights bear with sticks & stones Neighbors managed to capture the moment a pensioner in Russia’s far-east Magadan region tackled a wild bear by herself, armed only with Nordic walking sticks and stones. Olga Prokopenko told RT about her brush with danger: “It was literally two meters away. I didn’t have time to think about fear, I was deciding how to drive it away. I put my sticks forward, but the bear was not afraid. Then I bent down, took the stones, and she ran away.” The bear reportedly had to be killed because it posed a danger to a nearby school.
