►SONG ANALYSIS & LYRICS
The song title is evocative of the frightful event of the murder of the Romanov family, referring to the summer month of July as having been transmuted into winter by the tragedy of the family’s death. The song, nevertheless, does not have a sombre feeling, but it shines with hope for the coming spring, rendering the family an eternal symbol of love’s victory against all evil.
The music video follows the song lyrics in a “backward movement”, starting with the events relating to the tragic murder, moving back to the captivity period, and ending with the happy images of the family at their merriest days.

INTRO: One can find in everything something good and useful—whatever sufferings we go through—let it be. But the thunder-storm has not passed yet and therefore it is stifling—but I know it will be better afterwards. One must have only a little patience. Soon spring is coming to rejoice our hearts. The way of the cross first—then joy and gladness.
(Excerpts from letters by Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna)
Tears on the ground, crystal and brown,
far away voices without any sound.
Sunny July, where have you gone?
Tearfully, winter rains in my soul.
But spring will shine, children will laugh,
all tears will dry away in the sunshine of love.
