NYC subway derails in collision with another train, injuring at least 26

A New York City subway train derailed Thursday after being sideswiped by another train, leaving at least 26 people with minor injuries. The accident took place after a passenger train departing the 96th Street station around 3 p.m. collided with a work train, causing the work train carrying transit workers to derail. Emergency personnel shut off the power line and escorted passengers back to the 96th Street Station. About 300 people were evacuated from the passenger train that derailed while seven passengers and one crew member were sent to hospitals. The collision caused major disruptions to the 1, 2 and 3 lines during the afternoon rush hour. The .
