This documentary, produced by Nine Lives Media in 2011, follows 34-year-old American JoAnne Fluke who was born and doctors thought she would only live for 72 hours. Her dad Bobby Joe fainted at the sight of her webbed legs, the main sign of her genetic condition caudal regression syndrome. Medical staff warned JoAnne’s parents that her webbed legs would never work or grow, so she would always be dependent and never be able to do anything in life. But JoAnne went on to prove them wrong. She is ferociously independent, lives on her own, has a job, has learnt to drive and never lets any obstacle stand in her way. Watching her swing herself from the floor, or her wheelchair, in and out of her car is truly inspiring. JoAnne’s hobby is dancing and she has started up Groovability, her own dance academy.
