It was filmed by an unknown American and contains many scenes in New York City. (The date this was shot is a guess based on a scene at 3:45, where the Paramount Theater is shown, with the marquee advertising William Powell in the film “The Four Feathers“. This was one of the last major Hollywood pictures of the silent era, and released in June, 1929.) Other sights in the film include: a visit to Richmond, Virginia including the Virginia Washington Monument with its equestrian statue of George Washington (:23), at 1:06 the Robert E. Lee Monument on Monument Avenue, and at 1:12 the Stonewall Jackson Monument. At 1:20 are shots of what might be the filmmaker’s family, posing on a porch. At 1:49, the film moves to show scenes of New York City. At 1:56 Washington Square Arch is shown. At 2:21, the exterior of the Pig ’N Whistle, followed by a shot of the New York elevated and the Chrysler Building under construction (2:40), the New York Elevated (2:46), the 40 story New York Central building (2:52), the Paramount Building (3:45) located at 43rd and Broadway (which contained the Paramount Theatre) and scenes of busy Broadway (note the cab with the ad for the glass roof restaurant in Chinatown).
