US Military Bases Under Attack From Iraq to Syria As Israel-Hamas War Threatens Middle East Flareup

US military bases in the Middle East have come under a spate of drone and rockets attacks amid the escalating Israel-Hamas war. The spate of attacks comes as US President Joe Biden visited Israel to show solidarity with Netanyahu. The Ain al-Asad airbase, which hosts US forces in western Iraq, was targeted by drones and missiles on the evening of October 19. Multiple blasts were reportedly heard inside the base and it’s not clear whether the attacks caused casualties or damages. On the same day rockets hit another military base hosting US forces near Baghdad’s international airport, according to Iraqi police. A day earlier US military forces in Iraq were also targeted in two separate drone attacks, reports say. The attack on October 18 caused minor injuries to a small number of troops even though the US military managed to intercept the armed drone. On October 18, a drone hit US forces in Syria resulting in minor injuries, while another one was brought down. There has been an uptick in attacks on US forces since the conflict in Israel broke out following Hamas’s attack on October 7. #israel #israelpalestine #gaza #hamasattack #hamasvsisrael #usa #biden #netanyahu n18oc_world n18oc_crux 0:00 INTRODUCTION 2:42 US ON HEIGHTENED ALERT AMID RISK OF SPILLOVER CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
