Francis Poulenc (1899-1963): Sarabande for guitar, opus 179, Molto calmo e melanconico
played by Huy Liem Nguyen
Guitar: luthier Lam Văn Hoàng
Strings: Hannabach Exclusive MT
Score: Ricordi London (1961)
A very calm and melancholic Sarabande was composed by Francis Poulenc during his stay in New York in March 1960, a few years before Poulenc’s death. Unfortunately, this is the only work he wrote for solo guitar, which is dedicated to the French guitarist, Ida Presti. However, Presti never performed it in a concert.
