From a Tree to the Sea

Ever wondered what it takes to build a wooden mast ? It all starts close to the world’s final frontier in the far north of British Columbia to where we source the right tree for the project. At our sawmill in Northern Canada we saw the log to boards, then, at our remanufacturing mill in Holland, these boards are custom processed to staves. These staves are then shipped to the mast builder who skillfully transforms there staves to a hollow mast. The mast is stepped on the yacht followed by the rig tune and the sea trials. Per Scheldurup made this beautiful short film showing the process of creating the 27 metre long mast for one of the most iconic Int. 12-Metres of all time; Princess Svanevit !
