Life in a small town in the far east of Russia / Spassk-Dalny VLOG

In this video I’ll show you my hometown Spassk-Dalny. I’ll tell you about the city’s geography, about its past and its present, and maybe about its future. Spassk is situated in the region called Primorsky Krai, 222 kilometres to the North from Vladivostok. The city’s populatin is 39,000 of people. Spassk is a monotown, which means that the city’s economy is dominated by a single industry. Our city forming enterprise is this Spassk Cement Factory that you can see in this video. In the end of the 19th century, the Russian government needed to populate these new far eastern territories and that’s why they gave free land to peasants from western parts of the Russian Empire. So, Spassk was founded by settlers from Ukraine in the 1886, it’s the year of Coca Cola foundation, by the way! I left Spassk 3 years ago when I moved to Khabarovsk to study in a university. There’s no way I want to return to Spassk and live there. Because there’s no job, no cultural life and the level of life is really low. Anyway, It
