Moving house: 139-year-old building moved six blocks in San Francisco

A 139-year-old San Francisco house has a brand-new address - six blocks away, thanks to an extensive team of engineers and construction workers. The mint green Victorian house was loaded onto a flatbed truck and moved from its lot on Franklin Street to its new home, several streets away on Fulton Street, yesterday morning. Spectators turned out to cheer and take pictures as the 465sqm house began its journey to its new location. At several points, construction workers were needed to cut back branches so the house could pass down some of the city’s tree-lined streets The house, which needs massive repairs, sat on a prime lot, so valuable its owner sold the property to a developer who plans to build condos on the site, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The cost of moving the six-bedroom house was roughly €330k, according to local media reports.
