Virtual hike with a dog to the base of a waterfall | Kolapathana Ella, Mandaram Nuwara, Sri Lanka

This is Mandaram Nuwara, which literally translates to “Overcast City“. I think the city got its name because the mountains around the edge of the basin cut off a reasonable amount of sunlight, when compared to the other areas of the country. The time is at about 11 AM and the mist is disappearing from the mountain peaks. The atmosphere would’ve looked entirely different if there was mist, which would cover the sun as well. This isn’t a rainy day, hence the waterfall (Kolapathana Ella) is a bit thinned. There’s a security office at the entrance, which wouldn’t allow you to take drones and any polythene/plastic goods inside. This time, they didn’t let me carry my backpack as well, but I’ve carried it inside some other time so maybe it is something that depends on the person at the gate.
