Roth Sounds presents: Santiago Bartolome y Lumbrero

Sound experience performed by Santiago Bartolome and Lumbrero “Kuxtal“ in collaboration with Roth Sounds. An In Between session that took place at the SFER IK Museum Uh May - Mexico Kuxtal plays and it’s played in the unpredictable acoustics of space. Here lies an open dialogue with ancestry, always open to what is yet to come. All that remains is to let oneself be invited to this multiple journey, aware of the tentacular bond that arms and disarms us. To create, with them, this barefoot parcours, to persist in this refuge in permanent construction. Lumbrero: Guitar, synth and sound design Santiago Bartolomé: Trumpet, flugelhorn, voice and sound design ¿How can we make room for art? How can we create that space, that place? Because our Earth is damaged, the joint imagination of other ways of inhabiting is essential. The question becomes a creative, architectural, and artistic task. To create space with others is also to respond to a dynamic system of living on the land on which we stand. A space created, as well, in order to pause inertia and focus on what happens, on what goes by. In a world of saturation, Sferik makes room for the pause of sound. Against the prospect of devastation, Kuxtal extends the invitation to enter a place of symbiotic coexistence. Music here inhabits between and with the plants, the unwavering presence of the sea, and the changing course of the sky. The sound experience is also a spatial experience: it contracts and expands, returning to the vitality of compost and photosynthesis. A reticular tissue that connects sounds and traces, human and non-human, the slow but continuous development of an open secret. To experiment is to reconnect: moving forward with and towards others. Can music be an interspecies language? Could it be a zone of contact between unsaid presences? Some passages are repeated; they ask to be heard, to only then find the difference. Between the living walls, sounds evolve. Sounds affected by the space and its nooks and crannies, following the same intuition: to (de)form, to give shape by doing something else with the same matter. Kuxtal plays at its own risk with the unpredictable acoustics of the space. A never-ending dialogue between ancestors and those who are yet to come. This is your invitation to join a multifarious journey to immerse in the tentacular bond who dis-assembles us. An invitation to make, with them, this barefooted parcours, and to remain in this refuge in continuous construction. Text. Ianina Moretti
