Trump Escalates Attacks on James, Doubles Down on Mar-a-Lago Valuation in Court

Former President Donald Trump doubled down on his claims that his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida is worth “100 times“ more than New York Attorney General Letitia James has claimed, as he appeared in court for a second day in a civil investigation into his business practices. Trump, who is known for his frequent attacks on James, called her a “racist“ and a “monster“ during a press conference outside the courthouse on Tuesday. He also accused her of conducting a “witch hunt“ against him. James’ office is investigating whether Trump and his family business, the Trump Organization, engaged in fraud and financial misconduct. The investigation has focused on whether Trump inflated the value of his assets in order to obtain loans and insurance coverage.
