Until just a few years ago, scientist couldn’t explain why these rivers had such an incredible turquoise hue. In fact, countrary to previous hypotheses, the source of the waterfalls and rivers bright blue color is not cause by chemicals but due to Mie scattering. The rivers upstream are not blue and they contain large concentration of a whitish mineral particles known as aluminosilicate (composed of aluminum, silicon and oxygen). The volcanic activi
