7 Year Bitch-The Scratch

Bio By She Rox, All Female Bands: Seattle based 7 Year Bitch began in 1990, at the forefront of the of the Seattle grunge movement, 7 Year Bitch were one of the few all female bands to emerge from the movement from it’s conception. Their aggressive mix of punk, and grunge combined with their raw sound gained the band much attention and a handful of singles along with an ep recorded between 1990 and 1991 would make up their 1992 debut album, “Sick Em’“ however the debut was overshadowed by original guitarist Stefanie Sargent’s death shortly after it’s release, and band friend and Gits front woman, Mia Zapata was raped and murdered soon after, the tragedies left the remaining members unsure whether to continue on or not, with the bands popularity growing they moved ahead and recruited guitarist Roisin Dunne and by 1994 they released “Viva Zapata“ , a tribute more or less to Sargent and Zapata, the album took a much more solemn, at times dark serious tone in songwriting, the album however only grew their fan base larger and even showcase them in the major motion picture “Mad Love“ starring actress and fan Drew Barrymore, soon after they were soon signed to major label Atlantic in 1995, and released “Gato Negro“ in 1996, although the band were at their height and the album was a strong effort , it failed to achieved what Atlantic had hoped for, after a tour for the third album guitarist Roisin Dunne left the band and was replaced my former Mudwimin guitarist and 7 Year Bitch’s current sound engineer Lisa Faye Beatty, however this line up was short lived and the band broke up soon after, Selene would go on to work on a solo career and bassist Elizabeth Davis would continue to play in bands, notably the all-female band Von Iva, Roisin Dunne would also continue on and guitarist Lisa Faye Beatty sadly, was killed in a auto accident in 2011.
