Today @catalystquartet—our @metlivearts 2022-23 Quartet in Residence—performs a piece titled “But, Just a Minute?!“ of composer Paquito D’Rivera (@paquitodrivera) performed in The Met’s Musical Instruments galleries, writing: “Paquito was the first composer to submit his miniature for CQ Minute. We all had a nice laugh when we saw the title he chose because many of the contributors to CQ Minute expressed how surprisingly difficult it is to compose an entire piece in just 1-2 minutes! We love the humor of Paquito’s title as well as the little wink at the end of the piece.” What’s #CQMinute? In commemoration of their 10th anniversary, Catalyst Quartet has commissioned a series of miniature string quartets from 11 composers, ranging from Pulitzer winners to jazz legends to indie-pop stars—all performed in the Museum’s galleries and released right here on The Met’s YouTube and Instagram.
