Henri Vieuxtemps: “La Sentimentale“ - Fantasia for Violin and Orchestra op. 9b

World premiere recording of the work in the composer’s version for violin and piano Sujung Yun, violin (class of Olaf Adler at the Music High School Schloss Belvedere, Weimar) Ludmilla Kogan, piano Henri Vieuxtemps composed the fantasia “La Sentimentale“ to prepare for his second Russia tour in 1839/40. The character of the fantasia is determined by bel canto opera. Vieuxtemps himself performed it many times until at least 1843, among others under the direction of the young Richard Wagner. To mark the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth, the work was published in print for the first time in 2020.
