Queen of Victoria Collision August 2nd 1970

At around noon on August 2nd 1970 the Russian freighter Sergey Yesenin ran into the Queen of Victoria in Active Pass. The bow of the Russian ship cut almost half way through the ferry. Even though there were 540 people on board the Queen of Victoria, only three were killed.
