PARALLEL II - AACHEN 1944 - A WWII Then & Now Short Film

PARALLEL II - AACHEN 1944 is a WWII Then & Now Short Film with the goal to play two films parallel to each other, creating a bridge between the war in 1945 and 2020. ---------------------------------- The Battle of Aachen is one of the toughest urban Battles of World War II fought by the Americans. On October 10, 1944, General Huebner, commander of the US 1st Infantry Division ’Big Red One’, delivered an ultimatum to German Forces in Aachen. They threatened to bomb the city if the German garrison did not surrender. The German commander refused. On October 13, 1944, the US 26th Infantry Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division, started attacking the city center. It wasn’t until October 21, that the last German garrison surrendered. WORK WITH US! SNAFU DOCS believes in innovative ways to research the past, preserve history and create memory. We believe that film forms a very important link in this chain, but our young, talented and academic spirit goes far beyond that.
