Making a ring from 50 cent coin

Оригинал видео: Все права на это видео принадлежат автору канала: This week I wanted to try something different, making a ring from 50 cent is a really simple DIY project that could be done with quite minimal tools. But of course I used what’s available to me as this is something I’ve never tried before. I begun be hammering the sides of the ring wider on an anvil. The metal alloy the coin is made, Nordic gold, is quite soft so all you need is a small hammer and sturdy surface to hammer on. While hammer I also started to bend the coin as I didn’t want to make basic “wedding ring“looking ring. At some point I needed to straighten the ring a little because after it starts to bend the hammering will bend it even further and I didn’t want to bend it too much. Once I was satisfied with the wideness of my edge, I drilled a hole. I didn’t have any good tool to hold the coin while drilling so I pressed the edge into a piece on 2x4 and hoped it sticks enough to make the hole. It did. Then I took carbide bits on a dremel and used those to make the hole larger. Once it was large enough I used a round steel bar as a n anvil to “spread“ the edge a little. Hammering spreads the metal making the diameter of the hole in the ring larger. After this I went back to the dremel and carved the hole to wanted size with carbide bit. Then I changed to diamond bit and later to fine stone bit. After I now had the anted shape I sanded both outer and inner surfaces to 800 grit and then polished them with metal polishing compound leaving me with perfect mirror finish. This was a super fun project that turned out great considering I didn’t have any Idea what I was doing. I’ll definitely be making some more rings in the future.
