Amyl and the Sniffers - Security

I was just introduced to this badass female-fronted punk rock unit around a week ago by @ededdy7. Been listening to them religiously ever since. A great reminiscence of Riot Grrrl. This Melbourne-based band, Amyl and the Sniffers, I find them like a deadly combo of Bikini Kill x Bratmobile with a mini portion of Peaches ’tude. Some music critics have been compared their sounds to Iggy Pop and the Stooges and The Damned (I agree with the latter one). However, the singer has cited a number of varying influences including Minor Threat, Ceremony, AC/DC, Sleaford Mods, Dolly Parton, and Cardi B. Consisting of Amy Taylor (vocal), Bryce Wilson (drums), Dec Martens (guitar), Fergus Romer (bass), their self-titled debut record won the Best Rock Album category at the ARIA Music Awards of 2019. Till today they’ve released two EPs, Giddy Up (2016) and Big Attraction (2017) and two albums, Amyl and the Sniffers (2019) and Comfort to Me (2021). Their interesting name came from the Australian slang for amyl nitrite (poppers, if you know what I mean heheh). Amy Taylor compared their music to the drug in an interview with Paul Glynn of the BBC: “In Australia we call poppers Amyl. So you sniff it, it lasts for 30 seconds and then you have a headache—and that ’s what we’re like!“ _________ Disclaimer: I do not own the rights to any of the content viewed in this video.
