Fall of Berlin - 1945 | Today In History | 2 May 17

On May 2, 1945, the Soviet Union announced the fall of Berlin, and the Allies reported the surrender of German troops in Italy. Film taken at the beginning of May shows the first pictures of the Russian occupation of Berlin. In parts of the city resistance groups were still trying to hold out. Many of the buildings are in ruins but one of it’s famous landmarks, the Brandenburg Gate, remains intact. 2 мая 1945 года Советский Союз объявил о падении Берлина, а союзники сообщили о капитуляции немецких войск в Италии. Фильм, снятый в начале мая, показывает первые картины российской оккупации Берлина. В части города группы сопротивления все еще пытались держаться. Многие здания в руинах, но одно из его знаменитых достопримечательностей - Бранденбургские ворота - остается неизменным.
