Johnny “The Entertainer“ Nelson was one of the biggest stars in Sheffield. He was trained by the legendary trainer, Brendan Ingle. Ingle trained Herol “Bomber“ Graham, and the famous “Prince“ Naseem Hamed. Nelson’s style was often touted as being boring, but he had fast hands, a solid defense and was only stopped one in his 12 defeats. He beat Carl Thompson by TKO in the fifth round in their cruiserweight title fight for the WBO Championship belt. He also won the Lonsdale title, and the EBU European title.
