Are you ready, for this action Does it gives you satisfaction Are you hear to what I’m saying If you are, then lets start swinging The answer better be yes That pleases me... that pleases me.. When I touch you, do you quiver From your head, down to your liver If you like it, let me know it Don’t be secret, while you know it The answer better be yes That pleases me... that pleases me.. Who is Annika? Annika (former Salminen) was the first real bluesrock singer in Finland. She started her carrier at 14 years old as a singer for the bluesrock band Model 73. Bluesrock had its prime time and at home parties, teenagers listened to John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters as well as the more contemporary Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Cream, Led Zeppelin, John Mayall, Yardbirds, Peter Green and many others. Dead End 5. At first their name was Ego Trip (completely in the psychedelic spirit of the time). Their music had a blues foundation but later got a heavier sound with a new drummer. The band changed their name to Dead End 5 and switched from English to Finnish and their sound was characterized by a sense of freedom without boundaries between the different blends of genres. They toured all over Finland and played as supporting act to and Hurriganes among others. Annika was also chosen as the best rock singer in 1976. Dead End 5 recorded four singles and two full length albums on the record label Finnlevy. Life after Dead End 5. The rock scene in Finland changed drastically during the 70’s. DE5 came to the end and Annika moved from Turku to Helsinki. Annikas potential was recognized by various record labels which led to a three year long adventure as a Finnish schlager singer. Tours with Danny, Freeman and others took Annika even outside of Finland, all the way to the Sinai Peninsula. Annika also recorded a solo album in Finnish where the song “Enkelit heittää arpaa“ (Carly Simon’s Bond song “Nobody Does It Better” in Finnish) is best remembered as a hit song on the radio. There was no shortage of gigs and Annika became more and more experienced but Annika didn’t become a schlager singer despite her persistent attempts. Annika packed her bags and moved to Sweden. Return of the blues rock queen. Her love for the blues never went out - it has always been there and given Annika strength in difficult times. Annika prepared for her return by touring with the band Blues Alone. Blues Alone released an EP in the spring of 2016. It received an excellent reception among blues fans. Reborn. It’s finally time to release the long-awaited bluesrock album “Reborn“. Everything that Annika collected during the decades is on this album. Original songs with musicians and producers in top class.
