28 Aug: Russians Panic! Ukrainians ENTER the 2nd Defense Line. Main Russian DEFENSE BREACHED The Ukrainian Armed Forces have brought the war to a critical stage. The Russians are stuck in a mind-boggling stalemate both on the southern Ukrainian front lines and near the Crimean peninsula. As Kiev concentrates its offensive on these front lines, Putin continues to pour troops into southern Ukraine in a last gamble. Right now, especially in the Zaporizhia-Dnipro-Kherson triangle and from Tokmak to Melitopol, Russia has amassed a massive contingent of around 100,000 troops. These included many soldiers from the 7th Airborne Brigade, the 810th Marines, the 100th Reconnaissance Brigade, the 1430th and 1431st Brigades of the Russian army. This unit was Putin’s last chance on Ukrainian territory. The Ukrainian side, on the other hand, chose to take the battlefield with only 30,000 troops against this large Russian contingent. Kiev had no hesitation about this. The 30,000-strong Ukrainian contingent did not break Kiev’s confidence and managed to bring the 100,000-strong Russian army to its knees. The biggest factor was the use of Western battle tanks, armored vehicles and other military equipment by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front lines, especially in Zaporizhia. You know that Ukraine’s elite paratroopers are still in this region and are providing very strong support to the clashes. This Ukrainian airborne brigade has a large number of western combat vehicles. This is why the Russians, even with 100,000 troops, are unable to stop the Ukrainian advance. Despite the massive Russian buildup in and around Zaporizhia, Ukraine’s highly anticipated counter-offensive has been going on for days, with clashes intensifying on the southern fronts. Many Russian military bloggers are now painting a bleak picture of the situation of Moscow’s forces on the front line in the southern regions. One of the most prominent of them, WarGonzo, reports that the Ukrainians have gained a foothold in Robotyne and are attacking heavily shelled Novoprokopivka. In addition, Ukrainian forces launched a parallel attack on the Verbove area in the east, amid heavy artillery fire in both directions. Troops of Russia’s 58th Combined Arms Army claimed that Ukrainian western armored vehicles were massing in these critical areas. The biggest concern for Russia at the moment is the Robotyne settlement. The Kadyrov Detachments near Zaporizhia, fighting on behalf of Russia, painted a similar hopeless picture for Russia in this enclave. Ukraine’s use of its air force to protect the advancing infantry and the delivery of more ammunition supplies to the Mala Tokmachka area only added to Russian despair. With the odds stacked against Moscow, the Russians tried one last time to hold on to Robotino’s positions. This was not surprising. Robotino was in fact a pillar on the border between the first and second lines of defense of the Russian army. Therefore, the strategic location of this settlement was vital for both sides of the war. Russia, for its part, could not bear the pain of losing this settlement. But earlier this week the Ukrainians announced that they had secured the village of Robotyne. Yevgeniy Balitskiy, the Russian-appointed governor of Zaporizhia, reported that the Ukrainians had managed to reach the first line of defense, consisting of engineering barriers in the area extending beyond Robotyne towards Tokmak. In addition, the Washington DC-based Institute for the Study of War has stated in its latest assessment that Ukrainian forces have also breached the second Russian defense line in the Roboyne area. In other words, Ukrainian forces were working wonders in the areas south of Robotyne and close to this front line, breaking through the two main Russian defense lines. The Russian second line of defense here was 15-20 km deep, while the first line of defense was on average 5 km deep. In other words, the Ukrainians broke through a total of 25 kilometers of Russian defenses. With the destruction of a Russian defense line three times deeper than the one the Ukrainians had breached for two and a half months, the Russian command had real cause for concern. Meanwhile, in the critical area between Robotyne and Tokmak, the clashes continued fiercely. In fact, after breaking through the first Russian defense line, Ukrainian forces eliminated a huge Russian detachment in the direction of Tokmak in just one night. Following this critical offensive, Ukrainian authorities shared important assessments that the Russians had become much more alarmed. #russia #Ukraine #UkraineWar #russiaukrainewar #news #russiaukrainenews #War society, politics, knowledge, military, international relations
